In 1970, our founder, Steve, embarked on a journey that would lay the foundation for a legacy of craftsmanship and family tradition. Having just arrived in this country, Steve brought with him a passion for bespoke clothing and a commitment to excellence. He opened the doors of our first store, which quickly became known for its quality and dedication in the Louisville Community.

Over the years, Steve's unparalleled skills and meticulous attention to detail were passed down to his children and grandchildren. Each generation inherited not only the techniques but also the values that have come to define our brand. With a persistent focus on every stitch, our craftsmanship is unparalleled, growing into three stores spanning Kentucky, and even opening a location in Nashville.

As our reputation for exceptional bespoke clothing and high-quality alterations grew, so did our business. Keeping with our family-owned traditions, British Custom Tailors was passed down to Steve’s son, Avi, who set the standard for who we would become. Developing strong relationships with the highest quality fabric suppliers in Italy and London, and even stronger relationships with our customers, we’ve earned clients that have trusted us for generations. From grandmothers to granddaughters, we have had the honor of crafting bespoke apparel for our client’s most significant moments, including weddings spanning multiple generations.

Following Avi's passing, we made the difficult decision to close all but our original location. The Brownsboro road location, where it all began, continues to be the heart of our operations and is now owned by Dillon, Steve’s grandson and the third generation to take over the family business. Today, British Custom Tailors still upholds the standards of excellence and enduring family values that have been our hallmark for decades.
